The Germantown FBLA Chapter attended the 2023 State Leadership Conference in Green Bay, WI on April 17-18, 2023. The conference provides an opportunity for students to attend career workshops and leadership events, participate in business tours, and compete for the right to represent Wisconsin at the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta.

The Team finished 3rd overall! Also, they were recognized for having the 3rd largest chapter in the State with 135 members. Congratulations to all involved! A special thank you to chapter advisors and chaperones who helped make the event possible: Mr. Martin, Mr. Baumann, Mr. Jones, Mr. Hammen, Ms. Mueller, and Ms. Haensgen.

The Warhawk Baseball Team won the only game it played last week that wasn't canceled or postponed by the weather, as Carter Szohr and Brady Vincent combined to shut down Brookfield East, 12-4. Landon Mani, Jake Olszewski, Alex Pluta, and Ryan Ferguson led the offense. Both JV 1 and JV2 went 3-0 for the week to remain undefeated in conference play. Good luck this week in all scheduled games!

Last week the golf team played its first conference meet of the season and finished in second place. Leading the way was Cody Schmidt with 40, followed by Charlie Larson with a 42, Kolby Bohling with a 43, Justin Ische with a 45 and Henry Kelley with a 46.

Last Thursday the team traveled to the home of the 21 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits. The team finished 12th out of 42 teams shooting a 318. Leading the way and finishing 8th overall was Kolby Bohling with a 74, followed by Cody Schmidt 80, Charlie Larson 81, Justin Ische 83 and Henry Kelley 84. Well done to all and good luck this week!

The Germantown Varsity Golf team traveled to Silvis, IL for an invitational at the PGA Tour stop TPC DEERE RUN two weekends ago. The course was incredible and so was the weather 82 and sunny. The course proved to be a tough but fair test early in the season. Leading the way for GTown , Cody Schmidt with a 77 followed by Henry Kelley’s 82. Rounding out the team scoring Justin Ische 85, Charlie Larson 88 and Ben Jakusz 89.

Two Saturday's ago the boys traveled to Washington County GC for the Hartford Oriole Invitational. Germantown’s Cody Schmidt fired a 75 and finished in 3 place in the County, 2 shots back of the champion and 6th over all in the 130 player field. Rounding out the team scoring Charlie Larson and Justin Ische 84, Henry Kelley with 87 and Ben Jakusz 90.

Girls' soccer had their parent night on Friday night at their game against Kewaskum- THANK YOU PARENTS!

The softball team went 4-2 over the last week. They are currently in 2nd place in the Greater Metro Conference at 5-2 and have a 6-3 overall record.

On April 14, Germantown overcame an early 5-0 deficit to defeat Sussex Hamilton 15-5 in 6 innings.

Sophomore Kylie Otto - in her first career varsity appearance - pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. She allowed 3 hits and no walks while striking out 4.

After being held scoreless for the first 3 innings, the Warhawk offense caught fire in the 4th, tallying 7 runs on 8 hits to take the lead for good. In the 5th, Sophomore Madison Werner (2-4, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI, SB) added some insurance by lining a 3-run homer off the scoreboard in left center - her first of the year. Germantown completed the run-rule victory with a 5 run 6th inning.

In addition to Werner, 6 other Warhawks had multi-hit games, including sophomore Emmy Coulter (3-4, 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI, SB), freshmen Ally Pentek (3-4, 2 R, SB), junior Maddy Balsiger (2-5, 2 RBI), senior Skylar Bryl (2-4, RBI), sophomore Kayla Preiss (2-3, 2 R, SB), and senior Taylor Wilson (2-3, 2 R, RBI).

Germantown split a doubleheader with Kenosha Indian Trail on April 15, dropping the first game 13-12 before winning the second game 18-7.

In the opener, the Warhawks fell behind 5-2 before scoring 6 runs in the 4th with Madison Werner (2-4, 3B, HR, R, 3 RBI) launching a 3-run homer and Kayla Preiss (4-5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB) following with a solo inside-the-park home run. After the lead changed hands multiple times, Emmy Coulter (2-5, HR, 2 R, RBI) lead of the 7th with a game-tying solo inside-the-park home run, but Indian Trail hit a walk off double in the bottom of the 7th.

Josie Smith (4-4, 3 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI) and Maddy Balsiger (3-5, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI, SB) also had multi-hit games for the Warhawks in game 1.

In game 2, the Warhawks fell behind 4-0 before exploding for 11 runs in the 2nd. During the frame, Maddy Balsiger (2-3, 2B, 3B, 3 R, 2 RBI) hit a 2-run triple to give G-Town the lead for good. The Warhawks continued to pour it on throughout the rest of the game, with Madison Werner (2-5, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI) putting the run-rule in effect with a 3-run homer in the 5th - her 3rd consecutive game with a home run.

Also registering multi-hit games were Leah Heinz (4-4, 3 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI), Emmy Coulter (4-4, R, 4 RBI, SB), Skylar Bryl (3-4, 2 R, RBI), Ally Pentek (3-4, 2 R, RBI, SB), and Kayla Preiss (2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI).

Hailey Williams went the distance in the circle for Germantown to register her first win of the year. She allowed 2 earned runs while striking out 3 and walking none.

On April 18, Germantown rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Brookfield Central 15-3 in 5 innings.

After starting the frame down 3-1, the Warhawks scored 3 in the top of the 3rd to take the lead for good. Kayla Preiss (3-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 SB) lined a 2-out single to left to plate the go ahead run. G-Town then exploded for 10 runs in the 4th, as Leah Heinz (2-3, 2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) connected for her first home run of the season to plate the first two runs of the frame, and later lined an RBI double to make the score 12-3. Ally Pentek (2-3, R, RBI) and Taylor Wilson (2-2, 2B, R, RBI) also had multi-hit games.

Kylie Otto again shined in the circle, pitching 4 1/3 innings of 2 hit, scoreless relief. The sophomore struck out 3 and walked none, raising her record to 2-0 on the season.

Germantown rode a huge first inning in route to a 5-inning run rule win over West Allis Hale in 5 innings on April 20.

The Warhawks sent 15 batters to the plate in the 1st inning, scoring 11 runs on 9 hits including 3-run home runs from Leah Heinz (1-2, HR, R 3 RBI) and Kayla Preiss (2-2, HR, 3 R, 3 RBI, SB). In the 3rd, Madison Werner (1-2, HR, R, 2 RBI) added a solo homer, her team-leading 4th of the season. Maddy Balsiger (2-3, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI), Josie Smith (2-2, R), and Taylor Wilson (2-2) also had multi-hit games for Germantown.

Hailey Williams went the distance in the circle, scattering 3 hits while striking out 2 and walking none. Williams is 2-1 on the season and has not walked a batter in 15 innings of work.

On April 21, Germantown lost a back-and-forth game to Menomonee Falls by the score of 8-7.

After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first, the Warhawks tied the game in the top of the 3rd. Maddy Balsiger (2-4, 2B, R) hit a 1 out double and was brought home by a clutch 2 out single by Kayla Preiss (2-4, HR, R, 2 RBI).

Menomonee Falls regained the lead 5-1 in the bottom half of the 3rd, but Germantown cut that lead in half in the top of the 4th. With 2 outs and nobody on, Taylor Wilson (1-3, R), Kate Partridge (1-3, R, SB) and Emmy Coulter (1-4, RBI, SB) hit consecutive singles to plate a run, and Coulter and Partridge pulled off a double steal to score another.

After holding the Falls in the bottom of the 4th, Germantown took the lead in the 5th. Again, with 2 outs and nobody on, Skylar Bryl (2 BB, R) walked and Ally Pentek (1-4, R) singled, setting the stage for Josie Smith (2-4, HR, R, 3 RBI) to launch a go ahead 3-run homer over the right center field fence, giving the Warhawks a 6-5 lead.

After the Phoenix took an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the 6th, the Warhawks attempted one last comeback in the 7th. Preiss crushed a solo home to left to cut the lead to 1. Bryl then walked and pinch runner Ava Braidigan advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch but was stranded there to end the game.

Kylie Otto got the start in the circle, battling through 5 1/3 innings giving up only 4 earned runs, striking out 2 and walking no one.

Germantown resumes GMC play with a home-and-home set against Brookfield East on April 24 & 25, host Wauwatosa West on April 27, travel to DSHA on April 28 and host their annual tournament on April 29. Good luck!
