GHS backpacking trip

Did someone say summer field trip?!

GHS students currently in grades 10–11 can now apply to go on this summer's annual Porcupine Mountain Wilderness Area backpacking trip. During this four-night backpacking trip in the wilderness of Upper Michigan, students will learn first-hand about different elements of Biology, Geology, and Astronomy, as well as backpacking and camping.

2023 IMPORTANT DATES
Applications Due: 4/21
Classroom Learning: 6/8–6/9 (3:00–6:00PM)
Backpacking & Camping: 6/10–6/14

There are no requirements for prior camping experience or equipment, just a sense of adventure and the willingness to learn. Before leaving for the trip, students will have two days in the classroom setting learning about the state park and getting familiar with gear. After this, the adventure starts! The next five days are spent backpacking and seeing some incredible scenery, each campsite different from the next.

Maximum $95 cost per camper.
