This past weekend, the Germantown Forensics Team competed in the West Bend Forensics Tournament. This tournament has been the most successful of the year, with over 11 members winning awards. Congratulations to Arya Sagar for 1st in Impromptu, Paige Johnson for 1st in Oratory and 3rd in Solo Serious, Cassie Zarder for 2nd in Storytelling, James Buchta for 2nd in Moments in History, Drew Venne and Rory Bishop for 2nd in Play Acting, Meghan DeChant, Brooke Jakubowski, and Arush Chopra for 2nd in Group Interp, Meghan DeChant for 3rd in Informative, Arush Chopra for 3rd in Radio, Samantha Kessler for 3rd in Prose, and Nick Socha for 4th in Impromptu and 5th in Expository. Germantown High School Basketball Defeats Wauwatosa East in Thrilling Overtime Battle, 79-77
On Friday, January 31st, Germantown High School’s basketball team secured a dramatic 79-77 overtime victory against Wauwatosa East in a game that had fans on the edge of their seats. The contest, which showcased intense back-and-forth action, was a true test of endurance and skill as both teams fought tooth and nail for the win.
The hero of the night was Germantown's Cahlil Jones, who delivered an exceptional performance, leading the team with 25 points. Jones’s scoring ability was key in keeping Germantown in the game throughout the regulation and overtime periods, ensuring his team would not go down without a fight.
Also stepping up big for Germantown was JJ Walters, who contributed 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. Walters’ all-around effort on both ends of the court made a major impact, providing a strong defensive presence while also executing on offense when the team needed him most.
Keenan Mulberry added 16 points and 8 rebounds, showcasing his ability to score while also being a force on the boards. His work in the paint was crucial for Germantown, especially during the physical moments of the game when rebounds and second-chance points were pivotal.
Austin Grass rounded out the scoring for Germantown with 11 points, providing an important offensive spark during key stretches of the game. His consistent scoring kept Germantown in striking distance when Wauwatosa East began to make a run.
Despite strong efforts from Wauwatosa East, who pushed the game into overtime after an intense final few minutes of regulation, Germantown's offensive firepower and resilient defense proved to be too much to handle.

Germantown High School Basketball Falls Short Against Marquette High School: 79-63
On February 7th, 2025, Germantown High School’s basketball team faced a tough challenge as they went up against Marquette High School. Despite strong individual performances, Germantown came up short, ultimately falling 79-63.
The game saw standout performances from several players on the Germantown team. Cahlil Jones led the way with 19 points and 5 rebounds, showcasing his scoring ability and persistence on the boards. His efforts kept the team in the game, but Marquette’s overall offensive execution proved difficult to overcome.
JJ Walters was also a key contributor, adding 12 points to the scoreboard. Walters displayed his versatility on the court, helping his team stay competitive throughout the game. Austin Grass chipped in with 11 points, playing with energy and grit, while AJ Melcher contributed 9 points, adding to the balanced attack from Germantown’s lineup.
Germantown Dominates Madison West with a 75-56 Victory
On February 11th, 2025, Germantown High School's basketball team came out on top with a decisive 75-56 win over Madison West High School. The victory showcased a well-balanced offensive effort from the Germantown squad, with multiple players contributing in key moments of the game.
Leading the charge for Germantown was junior guard Cahlil Jones, who had an impressive performance, scoring 21 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. His ability to get to the basket and convert in critical situations helped to keep Madison West at bay throughout the game.
Alongside Jones, senior Keenan Mulberry delivered a strong performance, scoring 15 points and adding 6 rebounds to the stat sheet. His versatility on the court kept the defense on its toes, as he was able to contribute both inside and on the perimeter.
Germantown's three-point shooting also played a pivotal role in the win, and Payton Laabs was the sharpshooter of the night. Laabs drained 5 three-pointers, finishing with 15 points and providing the team with much-needed scoring from beyond the arc.
Senior guard Austin Grass added 12 points, offering a steady scoring presence and helping to maintain the team's rhythm throughout the game. Meanwhile, the unsung hero of the night was JJ Walters, who filled up the stat sheet with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Last Friday the girls' basketball team had to work overtime to defeat DSHA 75-70. Danica Gosz led the way with 23 points, while Madeline Jakusz (14 points), Emma Wolf (14 points) and Jaycee Mani (12 points) all scored in double figures as well.

The Menomonee Falls/Germantown gymnasts have had a great season thus far. The team has one last invitation this weekend at Mukwonago High School before Conference next week! The team is excited to see the results from the girls’ hard work and dedication throughout the season. Some highlights from the season so far include winning two of the three dual meets against various schools (both JV and Varsity) in the GMC as well as the Varsity team scoring a season best team score at their home Invite two weeks ago.
The Bears Hockey Team had their final regular season game last Saturday against sectional opponent Beaver Dam. The Bears won the game in dominant fashion with an 11-0 victory. Reid Newkirk had a hat-trick (3 goals) and 2 assists. Trevor Newkirk helped the team out with a play-maker (3 assists). This gave the team an overall record of 17-7 and 7-3 in conference play. The team ended up #3 in the conference and is the #4 seed for the sectional playoffs. This is the highest seed the team has ever had and will guarantee them two home games as long as they win the first one. The first playoff game is against Manitowoc on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Good luck!
