Congratulations to sophomore Lydia Morency for winning the Racine Symphony Young Artists. She will be performing with the Racine Symphony on Sunday, May 21. Lydia’s resume is very impressive. She has earned WSMA State Honors recognition every year, since 7th grade. She is also a Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra member and attended the Interlochen Music Camp. At GHS, she performs with the Wind Symphony and Wall of Sound, while being a member of Tri-M and the yearbook staff.

The varsity baseball team lost 3 games this week, losing to Sussex Hamilton 6-5, and then both ends of a doubleheader vs. West Allis Hale, 7-2 and 9-7. They take on Menomonee Falls at home next Monday at 5:00 to begin a 5 game week. GOOD LUCK!
This week the Varsity Golf team visited Fairways of Woodside for the 3rd Conference meet of the season. Germantown finished 6th with a team score of 161. Cody Schmidt’s 37 was the low round for the Warhawks followed by Charlie Larson 40, Henry Kelley 41, Justine Ische and Kolby Bohling 43.
On Thursday the team traveled to Hidden Glen Country Club for the Bulldog Invite. Germantown took second place as a team with a 326. Senior Ben Jakusz fired a 78 and took home 6th place individually. Rounding out team scoring was Cody Schmidt 80, Charlie Larson 83, Henry Kelley 85 and Justin Ische 92.

The softball team won two more games last week. They are 11-3 overall and currently tied for 1st in the GMC with Menomonee Falls at 10-2.
On April 28, Germantown beat Divine Savior Holy Angels 14-0 in 5 innings.
The Warhawks jumped on the Dashers with 8 runs in the top of the 1st and never looked back. Emmy Coulter (4-4, 4 R, RBI, SB) led the way on offense with 4 hits. Maddy Balsiger (2-2, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI, SB), Madison Werner (2-4, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB), Ally Pentek (2-3, RBI, SB), and Taylor Wilson (2-4, 2B) also had multi-hit games.
Kylie Otto (4 IP, 2 H, 6 K, 0 BB) started in the circle and went 4 innings to earn the win, her 3rd of the year. Hailey Williams (IP, 0 H, 2 K, BB) pitched the final inning.
Germantown defeated DSHA 13-3 on May 3.
After falling behind 3-0 in the top 1st, the Warhawks plated 1 in the bottom half before taking the lead for good by scoring 5 in the 2nd. In the 3rd, Josie Smith (2-3, 2 HR, 3 R, 3 RBI, SB) launched a 2-run homer high over the scoreboard in left and followed that up with a solo shot in the 5th, her 3rd HR of the year. In the 6th, Madison Werner (3-4, HR, R, 4 RBI, 2 SB) lined a game-ending 2-run homer over the left field fence for her 5th HR of the season. Hailey Williams took over in the circle in the 1st inning and went 5 2/3 shutout innings, allowing only 2 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5. She raised her record to 5-1 with the win.

Good luck to the Germantown Boys' JV Tennis Team as they compete in their Conference Championship tomorrow at Hart Park!
On Wednesday, the Varsity girls competed in the Greater Metro Conference Relays at West Allis Nathan Hale. In this specific meet, all of the running events are relays and in the field events, performances of the three athletes are added together to score a place 1-8. As a team, the girls scored 54 points and placed 7th overall. Even without the ability to compete in 4 events, the girls were able to put together a solid team performance!
Medaling performances included:
A 2nd place finish for the Shot Put Relay team of Piper Eby, Madeline Jakusz, and Morgan Sadowski.
A 2nd place finish for the Discus Throw Relay team of Piper Eby, Madeline Jakusz, and Kendra Schmidt. Congratulations to Piper (~8 ft) and Madeline (~19 ft) on two big PR’s!
A 2nd place finish for the 4x200 relay team of Macie Daniel, Blyss McCune, Rylie Olson, and Addison Braidigan with a time of 1:51.30.
A 3rd place finish for the 300m Hurdles Relay team of Grace Weyda, Mya Bell, and Elise Redeker. Each girl set a new PR in this event!
The Varsity girls will compete next at the Myrhum Invite at Arrowhead on Saturday.
Postponed from Monday, the JV girls competed in the North Shore JV Relays hosted by Homestead on Thursday. Similar to the varsity meet, all of the running events are relays and in the field events, performances of the three athletes are added together to score a place 1-8. The girls compiled 35.51 points to place 6th overall.
Top performances included:
A 2nd place finish for the 300m Hurdles Relay team of Uma Goradia, Emily Burling, and Gina Wuteska.
A 3rd place finish for the 100m Hurdles Relay team of Uma Goradia, Emily Burling, and Gina Wuteska.
The JV girls will compete in their final meet of the season next Saturday at the Greater Metro Conference Meet at Hart Park.
Last Friday night Jack Wanezek, Dillon Walker and Troy VerStrate competed among several of the top distance athletes in the state at Hale Distance Night. Jack Wanezek competed in the 800m run where he ran a personal best of 2:00.39. Dillon Walker and Troy VerStrate both competed in the 3200m run, running personal bests of 9:21.78 and 9:51.41 respectively.
On Wednesday, May 3rd the Varsity boys competed in the GMC Relays hosted by Marquette at the West Allis Athletic Complex where they placed third as a team.
Top-three finishes from the evening include a first place finish by the 4x1600m relay team consisting of Dillon Walker, Jack Wanezek, Troy VerStrate and Will Cascio, a first place finish by the 4x400m relay team consisting of Jonas Price, Joey Knopp, Bennett Krause and Jayson Koel, a first place finish by the triple jump relay consisting of JV Myles, Louis Williams III and Mythais Polk, a second place finish by the 3x300m hurdle relay team consisting of Jonas Price, Louis Williams III and Charlie Morrow, a second place finish by the 4x200m relay team consisting of Vance Burnham, Will Van Fossen, AJ Willard and Jayson Koel, a third place finish by the 4x100m team consisting of Will VanFossen, Joey Knopp, Jayson Koel and JV Myles and a third place finish by the long jump relay consisting of JV Myles, Jonas Price and Vance Burnham.
On Thursday, May 4th the JV boys competed in the North Shore JV Relays at Homestead.
Top-three finishes on the running side include a second place finish by the 4x1600m relay team consisting of Arlo Gaskill, Matthew Momper, Dhir Patel and Nathan Pokorny, a second place finish by the 3x300m hurdle relay team consisting of Danny Holloway, Cody Rafn and Oran Voigt, and a third place finish by the 4x200m relay team consisting of Caleb Kemnitz, Danny Holloway, Kyle Betz and Nicholas Humphriss.
On the field event side, top-three individual finishes include a first place finish by Mythais Polk in long jump and a third place finish by Zachary Gasper in pole vault.
Varsity will compete again on Saturday in the Myrhum Invite at Arrowhead.
